Join us for an informal sharing of ideas and work-in-progress developed during PRAKSIS’s 29th residency, For real?, an exploration of authenticity and identity in art and society. Developed with artist Harold Offeh, this residency brings together eight artists to probe how we define and experience the ‘real’ in creative expression.
The artists will present performances, archives, images, failures, and questions around various forms of (in)authenticity. From digital landscapes to the authentic voice, ‘The Real’ continues to haunt the PRAKSIS attic—whether you believe in it or not.
The performative programme begins at 18:30 sharp—don’t be late!
About the Residents
Nouf Aljowaysir (Saudi Arabia/New York) investigates and critiques the intimate, personal pressure exerted by artificial intelligence on our everyday lives.
Adriana Berges (Spain/Norway) studies and makes work about the construct of landscape as it has emerged from art history, digital technology and Post-Internet culture.
Andrea Galiazzo (Italy/Norway), interweaves conceptual and narrative approaches to artmaking in his ongoing exploration of the intersections of art and daily life.
Jonathan Hielkema (Netherlands) uses film, installation and publishing media to explore the contradictions built into notions of privilege and common sense.
Niels Munk Plum (Denmark) uses performance, images, text and installation to queer the supposed “real” and envisage alternative, liberated states of being.
Harold Offeh (United Kingdom), the residency convenor, uses performance to excavate and critique historical and present-day tropes of identity.
Iga Śśćk (Poland) crafts disruptive, anarchic, libidinal collages and performances that challenge mainstream, administered concepts of reality and normality.
Mia Wennerstrand (Finland) creates works for the stage that explore and question the received histories and political rhetorics of the Cold War.
