Seeking members for There Will Be Tomorrows (TWBT), an interdisciplinary collectively-organised group, centred around post-capitalist desire, liveable futures and social sufficiency.

“We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings.”
– Ursula K. Le Guin

About the TWBT group

At a time when contemporary crises are accumulating and accelerating, There Will Be Tomorrows aims to establish a site of active hope and resistance. TWBT will bridge arts and activism by stimulating experiments in radical imagination and building a commons for post-capitalist skills and knowledge. Its community will work together to model ideas and values that offer a basis for liveable futures: alternatives to oppressive capitalist systems.

We invite you to join and help shape this collective. You’ll both participate in and also potentially lead practical workshops addressing the themes of post-capitalist desire, liveable futures and social sufficiency. Via practice-based, collective research and the re-imagination of societal structures, TWBT aims eventually to evolve a programme of collective practical actions that address specific needs of local people and local ecosystems.

Our meetings will last up to three hours and take place every other week. We’ll frequently invite guests and be open to new members, so the group will expand and contract in size across the project’s year-long duration. We’ll organise our activities collectively, with members proposing workshops, discussions, reading groups, screenings, creative experiments, and more.

Topics that we may encounter include:

// Collective care // Growing food // Collective ownership  // Alternative economies // Climate and ecological justice // Community energy projects // Universal Basic Income // Decolonisation // Post-consumer art and leisure // Mental health under (post-)capitalism // Speculative fiction // Freedom from work // Post-fossil and post-capitalist imagining //

Who are we looking for?
We welcome anyone who is enthusiastic about collective learning and radical futures and is willing to co-organise meetings. No formal experience is necessary and there are no specific requirements to join.

We hope the group will be broadly intersectional, interdisciplinary, and multigenerational. Recognising that diversity is key to the envisioning of speculative futures, we particularly encourage people of minority backgrounds (BIPOC, LGBTQ+) to get involved. Depending on group decisions, some meetings will be open to the public. They will be held in English.

By dividing organisational responsibilities fairly we will keep the labour of co-organising sessions manageable and beneficial for members. The community will be open to new members on a continuous basis, but is seeking a committed group to begin.
