Party as Form

Please join us at PRAKSIS to meet the residents from Party as Form who have gathered over the past month to discuss parties as an artistic medium. Topics might include but are not limited to: hospitality, bodies and their limits, eating, drinking, coolness, collectivity, emergent communities, hosting, gossip, expectations, and refusal. 

The residents will enact a series of performances, games, and other party fare that offer insights on what a party is and what it could be. 

There will be light refreshments.

The programme includes:

Basement Visitations, A series of participatory interactions in the basement 

Banu Çiçek Tülü, Sonic Party, Listening session with live electronics by Banu, voice by Tope Ayaji, sounds partly generated by AI

Kelly Lloyd, Smoking Area Chats, A participatory activity at the beginning of every hour, and an audio piece with corresponding publication

Lexie Owen, A Year in Party City (starts with a bang), A limited edition artist multiple presented with an invitation to start A Year in Party City

Matilda Moors, Loose Notes on (In)Toxic Gatherings, A4 hand out

Sara Clugage, Jelly Body Bodies, Jell-O, music, Text

Shannon Stratton, To your health, An opening toast

‘Tope Ajayi, An attempt to define partying, A digital revision of party programming via web-based media. A scheduled (dialogical) mixed-set.

Tor Lukasik-Foss, And then the Party Takes Me, A song performed at some point in the evening

About the residents

Fergus Tibbs, an artist, DJ, and cultural producer originally from Scotland, now based in Bergen, Norway. 'Tope Ajayi, a Nigerian multi-disciplinary artist and a cultural curator. Banu Çiçek Tülü, a sound artist, music producer, DJ and researcher from Turkey based in Berlin. Tor Lukasik-Foss, an artist, songwriter and storyteller living in Hamilton, Ontario. Matilda Moors, a London-based artist and educator. Sara Clugage, an artist, writer and editor, living and working in the United States. Åste Amundsen, an artist and researcher creating live interactive experiences, born in Oslo currently working from Germany. Lexie Owen, an Oslo-based interdisciplinary artist from Canada. The residency is developed by lead residents Shannon Stratton, a curator and writer based in Chicago who taught the first session of Party as Form at Ox-Bow School of Art in 2012, and Kelly Lloyd, a transdisciplinary artist and educator working out of London who inherited the delivery of Party as Form at Ox-Bow together with the PRAKSIS team.
