A sand dump near a decommissioned ore mine in Sandbekk, Rogaland, the inspiration behind a current work by Hedberg and Moi
PDF is free to join and held in English (due to its transnational setting)
PRAKSIS’s monthly peer-discussion group for creative people offers a friendly, informal hub for practitioners to meet, share ideas and seek feedback and support on works in progress.
Working together, Ebba Moi and Anna Carin Hedberg focus on the exploration of change—for instance, in relation to landscapes, geology, languages or communities—and they typically collaborate with people who are not artists. The duo will open PDF session 53 by presenting and seeking feedback on a work in progress that deploys the principle of circularity: the transformation of waste into useful raw material. Following a residency invitation from Velferden Sokndal Scene for Samtidskunst, they have been exploring a sand dump left behind after the decommissioning of an ore mine in Sandbekk, Rogaland, south of Stavanger. By researching the site’s social and historical context, they seek to turn this apparently valueless residue into a productive resource.
During the session up to three other participants may share their own works in progress. You may also simply join the discussion.
Book Your Place
There are eight places for this session and booking is essential. Alongside Hedberg and Moi, there are up to three places for those presenting work-in-progress and four places for those wishing to join the group conversation. If you are curious about PDF but don't necessarily want to show anything (yet), feel free to come and see what goes on.

PDF Structure
Each presenting participant has around 40 minutes to share their current artistic activity. PDF’s focus is on works and ideas in progress, so please do not present finished works or projects. Projects in development can be shared in a number of ways: for example by bringing in physical works, presenting a slideshow, reading, performance, or other suitable communication strategy. A projector and laptop is available for the group to use throughout the session. PDF encourages variety and experimentation, so please get in touch if you have questions or special requirements.
More About Anna Carin Hedberg and Ebba Moi
Hedberg and Moi have been collaborating since 2003. In their works, they explore the concept of changes and investigate structures that address processes of change. They were both educated at the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art (1995-1999). Ebba Moi primarily engages in socially-oriented art as an artist and curator in various self-initiated projects and collaborations, and she is also a member of the art collective Tenthaus. Anna Carin Hedberg's practice is based on participatory processes. She works as a curator for mediation at the Norwegian National Museum and is currently involved in a practice-based research project there.
